#IAMAPIG — A series of 50 3x5 screenprints. It focuses on the social problems many experience on a daily basis—sexuality, weight consciousness, gender roles, and racial inequalities that many are faced with. Each screenprint includes a self portrait unconcealed within my bedroom. A person is most vulnerable within the bedroom and is able to feel most free. Various screenprints include the boisterous actress and singer Miss Piggy. She is a fictional character that possess the dreams and aspirations that many work hard for, but will never acquire. Combining Miss Piggy with my self portraits I developed the phrase "I AM A PIG", which is seen throughout various prints. If one holds the title of being a pig, he/she has then secured an idea that defies the standards that society has set for them.
